Hello Friends!
It's always nice to be 'good neighbors', and that goes for Children's Festivals :) It was so nice meeting Colleen Hicks, Coordinator of Partnering Schools and Outreach.
Colleen works for NJPIRC (New Jersey State Parent Information & Resource Center) Prevent Child Abuse.
Her table was filled with valuable information for kids and families.
For more information please visit: www.preventchildabusenj.org or call 1-800-CHILDREN
Of course, Colleen also had a craft at her table. She made cool pins!
Check out her Pin Maker below! She even told me the 'secret' to working it... :) But the secret is safe with me Colleen, no worries!
The children got to pick out what kind of pin they wanted to make. There were:
- Lots of fun colored picture - all kinds of smileys... doing sports, holding flowers, hearts... etc
- They could design their own on a blank circle paper using crayons
- Or they could write their name and do a little drawing using crayons
We were all mesmerized when she used that cool Pin Maker!
Colleen & I cheated, we used my Stampin' Up! stamps for our pins. We both think the children would have also enjoyed stamping on their circle papers too.
This is the pin we made using my stamps. I used the same supplies from the Girl's book-marker from my table (pls read Post 1 of 3) but on Colleen's circle pieces of paper.
I made one other pin. I'm not sure if it was to watch Colleen use the Pin Maker again or to tease my niece - Kerriann (17 yrs old) who loves the Yankees! LOL
I made a METS #1 pin to wear proudly when I visit Kerriann in Staten Island, New York... Darn, I forgot to wear it when I saw her on Mother's Day... 'hum... next I visit!' :)
Colleen also had Pinwheels on her table for the kids! The Pinwheel stands for: It's YOUR TURN to make a difference and has a Promise card:
My Promise for Prevention...
I was unable to scan the papers I have:
- It's YOUR TURN to make a difference... Promise card
- Prevent Child Abuse: Mission & History, Their Commitment to New Jersey's Children, Your Investment in Protecting Children & other valuable information
-Issue 02 Winter 2009 The Link - Connecting Parents and their School Community
So please visit www.preventchildabusenj.org or call 1-800-CHILDREN for more information.
Have a wonderful day!
