How to Mount Your Rubber Stamps

This is how I mount and store my Stampin' Up! Stamp Sets.  I hope you will find the tips I share helpful. 

  

 

 

Every stamp set comes in a plastic case with the following:

- Labels

- Wood Blocks

- A sheet of rubber images iwth an adhesive backing   

 

 

 

 

Step One:

Start by placing stamp set name label on the outside of the case.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Two:

Pull apart the rubber images & place then on the correct wood pieces. (Do NOT stick them to the wood yet)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step Three: 

Once you figured out the correct rubber images on the wood blocks, put the labels on the wood. 

Tip: I always trim the labels some, so I can place them exactly where I want them. 

It does not matter which side of the wood you place the label on. 

But I choose the nicest looking side of the wood, since it will be facing me when I stamp.  

 

 

 

 

 

Step Four: 

Even thought ALL of the stamp sets are DIE CUT – I still trim the rubber images a little to make sure I don’t get a halo outline. 

Now I’m ready to mount my stamps.  If you notice in the photo I am only cutting only the ‘ORANGE RUBBER’ not the Foam under it.  I want to keep the support so I cut on a curve, and do not cutting any of the foam.  Cut only as close as you feel comfortable doing!

Please Note:  This step is not necessary – But if you find you have halos marks when you stamp, you must press down hard, so you will want to trim just a little rubber off the stamp.  

I use the Stampin’ Up! Craft & Rubber Scissors.  

 

Step Five:

I place the rubber image exactly where I placed my label but on the reverse side.

The image to the left is showing how I match up my image to make sure I have my rubber image going in the same direction as my lable.  As you can imagine, this is very important.

 

TIP: I am right handed so I mount my images (except for the word stamps: SEE BELOW for sample) to the bottom left side of the wood.  This helps me to see the image on the bottom left corner and assists with judging where I want my image stamped.

 

TIP:  If you want your stamps mounted on the left side for easier stamping – when you MOUNT your stamps, you actually will be adhering them to the lower right corner of the wood – when you turn it over to stamp, it will be CORRECT on the bottom left hand side.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Step Six:  I ALWAYS stamp on a lined piece of paper after I mount each stamp.  I want to make sure the image is Straight and not upside down.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
      

Step Seven: 

Now that I’ve mounted the whole stamp set, I store the stamps upside down in the case to keep the rubber images flat and even.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mounting Word Stamps

 

 

Only Word Stamps I mount on the center bottom.  When I use word stamps only - I use both right and left hands to hold my wood and center it where I want it.

Tip:  If stamps have been mounted for a while incorrectly, they can easily be fixed by – Placing the stamp in the microwave on Defrost setting for 15 second intervals until the rubber/glue backing is warm so you can easily peel the rubber off the wood and reposition it.  Stamp the image on lined paper to make sure it is straight.  Also reposition the label while it’s ‘warm’.
